Everything you need to know before you book — age limits, gear, refunds, weather, and where to show up.
What are the age requirements?
All students must be 18 or older with a valid government-issued ID. Minors (16-17) may attend select beginner courses only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is also enrolled. Handgun-specific courses require you to meet your state's legal age for handgun possession.
Do I need prior experience or a license?
Beginner and All-Levels courses assume no prior formal training — just a safe, coachable attitude. Intermediate and Specialty courses list their prerequisites on each course page. An LTC/CHL is not required to train with us, but you must be legally able to possess firearms.
What should I bring?
Always bring a valid photo ID, eye and ear protection, a belt, closed-toe shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing (we train rain or shine). Course-specific gear lists appear on each course page under "What to Bring." Loaner firearms and gear are available for most courses — request one when you book.
Is ammo included?
Ammunition is not included unless explicitly stated on the course page. You may bring factory-loaded ammunition in the required caliber, or purchase ammo from us at range cost — note your needs at booking so we have it staged.
What is your cancellation policy?
All sales are final — we do not issue refunds under any circumstances, including cancellations and no-shows. If you cannot attend, contact us as early as possible and we may, at our sole discretion, issue credit toward a future course. That is the only accommodation available. If WTC cancels a course, you receive credit toward the next available date.
What about weather?
We train in nearly all conditions — that is part of the value. Courses run unless weather creates an unsafe range environment (lightning, flooding, ice). If we postpone for weather, you will be notified by email and offered the rescheduled date or a full credit.
Where are courses held?
Most public courses are held at Brazos River Sportsman's Club (BRSC). On-site and agency-hosted training is available for department and military bookings — see the LE / Dept Training and Mil / Contract pages.
Can I book a private course or team training?
Yes. Private courses and group bookings are quoted per event. Use the inquiry form on the LE / Dept Training or Mil / Contract page and a WTC rep will build a package around your group.
